People wishing to turn their bedroom into free-spirited-style sleeping quarters may find window blinds can add to this effect.

This is because Helen Green, in an article for Terrys Fabrics, suggested 'adult coastal' bedrooms are all the rage right now.

And to gain this aesthetic, the interiors expert advised homeowners to opt for blinds that coordinate with soft flowing curtains and a large sisal rug in a neutral sand colour.

She explained: "Use white bead-board for walls, topped with navy paint or wallpaper; this beach inspired bedroom is low-key on the coastal theme but it still works really well."

Accessories that showcase shells will subtly nod to the seafront link, Ms Green observed, adding individuals do not want to go overboard with the theme.

The specialist recently suggested window blinds could help people who use a home office to achieve a working space that is both eye-catching, creative, formal and practical.
